Cooling Breath (शीतली, Śītalī) is a beginner level pranayama practice taking 3 minutes. Body parts: lungs, nervous-system. Benefits: Cools the body and reduces body temperature. Reduces blood pressure. Calms anger and emotional reactivity. Reduces acidity and pitta imbalances. Quenches thirst and hunger. Helps in hot weather and hot flashes. How to do Cooling Breath: Sit comfortably, spine erect. Roll tongue into a tube (curl sides up). If you can't curl tongue, make an O shape with lips. Inhale slowly through the curled tongue/O-lips. Close mouth, exhale slowly through nose. Repeat 10-15 times. Breathing: Cool inhale through tongue, warm exhale through nose. Conditions it helps: bp, anger, stress, acidity, fever, pitta.
